LET’S MEET 👋
Hi, I’m Laura!
I’m a food blogger and aspiring food anthropologist at heart, and I’ve loved eating and learning about food since I was a kid. Growing up in the Toronto suburbs, my biggest thrills were going to the food court, trying different mom-and-pop shops, and watching endless hours of the Food Network. As an adult, not much has changed—except now I have my own kids in tow.My roots are Ashkenazi Latin American and I’m interested in all foods and food culture, but I spend most of my time enjoying Asian cuisine, especially regional Chinese. It’s a passion that bloomed while I was living in Taiwan and China for a couple years, working and studying Mandarin (mian 面 means noodles!). Toronto is an incredible place to harbour these interests, and I love sharing my experience of this city with others.
LET’S EAT 🥢
Food Tours
Join me on a delicious trip through one of Toronto’s tastiest neighbourhoods. I’ll show you my favourite spots, and the best dishes to order. Tours include around 5 food stops and last for about 3 hours. After, you’ll receive a Google Map with all the places we visited, notes of what we ordered + bonus recs.
📍 NEW! KIDS TOUR 🌏💞: I’ll take kids plus their grown-ups on a whirlwind trip around Asia, all within a few blocks of St. Patrick Station. Sampled dishes will hit that kid-friendly sweet spot between new and familiar (trying is encouraged but not required). Collect stamps in your International Eater’s Passport and complete a Tasty Bingo card to win a prize! We’ll end with dessert—of course!—and a romp at Grange Park.📍 NEW! MOUNT DENNIS: This formerly industrial neighbourhood is incredibly diverse and home to a variety of “hidden gem” independent restaurants. As a brand new transit hub (terminal station of the Eglinton LRT + UP Express and Go Transit stop), it’s now easier to access than ever. Meet me there and we’ll explore some of the exciting eats this burgeoning area has to offer.📍 CHINATOWN: While the roots of Spadina’s Chinatown are in Cantonese cuisine—the entry point to Chinese food for many, including me—things have diversified immensely. On my signature tour in my favourite neighbourhood, we’ll explore foods from some of the many regions of China and its diaspora, all inside the heart of downtown. No need to go to the suburbs!📍 KOREATOWN: The stretch of Bloor between Christie & Bathurst is filled with tons of great Korean restaurants and businesses. I’ve lived in or around this area for well over a decade and am excited to share my favourite family-owned places. Let’s enjoy everything from hot bubbling stews to icy cold treats!📍 DOWNTOWN YONGE: It may not seem like a food destination, but Yonge Street between Bloor & College is packed with awesome eateries from across Asia: from India to China, Thailand to Afghanistan, and more! We’ll eat across the continent via just a few city blocks.📍 VEGETARIAN CHINATOWN 🌱: Are you vegetarian, or a veggie food lover like me? Want to know what to order while going out to eat with your omnivore friends? Instead of vegetarian-exclusive restaurants, I’ll take you to many of the places from my classic Chinatown tour, but focus solely on amazing plant-based dishes. Non-vegetarians welcome!
